Champéry is part of the vast Portes du Soleil Swiss/French ski area which offers superb skiing and snowboarding for most abilities. You can buy a ‘local’ ski pass covering the traditional Swiss resorts of Champéry, Les Crosets, Champoussin and Morgins’, or a ‘Portes du Soleil’ pass which is valid across the whole Swiss / French area which includes Chatel, Morzine and Les Gets as well as the ultra-modern Avoriaz. The resort offers over 650 km of marked pistes spread over 14 valleys, and includes the formidable and infamous Chavanette Wall.

The 125-person cable car is a 15-minute walk from the chalet at the centre of the village. Two ski lockers at the top station of the cable car are included in the rental of the chalet, meaning you can leave all your equipment on the slopes at the end of every day.

The village itself has many facilities for those who may not wish to ski; in fact it is ideal for non-skiers. In addition to the usual shops, cafés, restaurants and services there is a sports centre with indoor swimming pool, curling, ice skating, ice hockey and climbing wall.

Although the village has many of the local shops you would need, the town of Monthey (at the bottom of the valley) has excellent shops and shopping centres; it is on the local train line.
